Regardless of your relationship status, it is important that you know how to be happy when you are alone. If you know what really makes you happy, can love yourself, take good care of yourself and know how to move outside your comfort zone, you will see how strong you really are. Don’t wait for a partner to make you happy. Grasp your life and happiness with both hands and do everything you’ve always wanted to do. Being single is greatly underestimated. After all, you can do what you like, when you like, without having to ask anyone’s permission.
How to be single and happy
1. What truly makes you happy
Get to know yourself better. Being single you the wonderful opportunity to discover what truly makes you happy. Your happiness need not depend on someone else’s presence.
2. A new beginning
Make a list of everything that makes you happy. Then make a list of new places you want to explore, new skills you want to acquire, and books you still want to read. Create a vision for yourself. These lists will fill you with anticipation and can get you excited about all the possibilities.
Have a huge throwing out and tidying up session. Get rid of everything that’s just standing around gathering dust. Keep only items that you need, that make you happy, or have meaning for you.
3. Love yourself
Stop all those negative thoughts you think about yourself. Tell yourself how special, talented and wonderful you are. No-one is perfect, so don’t expect it of yourself. Write down your good points, and make the list nice and long.
Also know that you have a bright future. Don’t isolate yourself. Go out and spend time with positive people and participate in activities that make you happy.
4. Find your passion
Sometimes we only find our true passion in life when we’ve done and experienced quite a number of different things. Try new hobbies and ideas, do correspondence courses or take evening classes, and meet new people at new places. Learn to know yourself and really find out what you enjoy the most and strive toward.
5. Spend time wisely
Create deliberated and realistic aims for yourself. This will keep you motivated. Focus on what you want to improve and change in your life. This could be on a physical, spiritual, financial or health level.
6. Appreciate the present
Everyone makes mistakes. It is important that you acknowledge your mistakes, and then forgive yourself. Your mistakes do not determine who you are or can be. Challenges, difficult situations and obstacles will still cross your path, but be positive, look ahead with your purpose in mind, and work on how to create a better life for yourself.
7. You are single but not alone
See to it that you have at least one special friend, male or female, with whom you can share your joys and sorrows. A loving family who is always there for you is priceless. Then of course there is your own company, which you have to enjoy above all else.
