Everyone enjoys baking banana bread. This one will be your favourite by far.
You will need:
4 medium size bananas
¾ cup sugar
2 tablespoons sunflower oil
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1/3 cup milk
1½ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
6 tablespoons boiled water
Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Grease a bread pan with butter and sprinkle some cake flour over the base to make sure the banana bread will not stick.
Mash the bananas with a fork.
Add the bananas, sugar, oil, milk and vanilla essence to an electric mixer and beat well.
Add the flour, baking soda and salt to the batter and mix well.
Scoop out one cup of the batter from the mixing bowl.
Mix the boiled water and cocoa in a separate jug. Stir until all the cocoa has dissolved.
Add the cocoa mixture to the batter that has been removed.
The batter will now be chocolate in colour.
Spoon half of the white batter into the bread pan. Pour half of the chocolate batter over the white batter. Repeat the process once, using all the batter.
Draw lines in the banana bread with a kebab skewer so that the chocolate and white batter can mix.
Make sure not to mix the dough too much otherwise you will not get a marble effect.
Bake for 45 minutes to one hour or until the banana bread is golden brown and the test skewer comes out clean.
