With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we want to make an extra effort to spoil our loved ones. However, we needn’t wait for 14 February to make him/her feel special. Every day offers new opportunities to surprise your darling with small treats that cost very little or nothing.
Remember that every person is different. This does not mean that your hubby will like the same treats you do, so make sure that you take his personality, love language and taste into consideration when you decide what you are going to do.
Read to him from a book or newspaper while he is relaxing in the bath.
Bring him his favourite drink and snacks when he is working hard.
Massage her feet while she is watching tv, and rub in aromatic oils.
Leave secret notes in your hubby’s trouser pocket or inside his laptop, which he can discover at work.
Send your wife an sms or whatsapp in the middle of the day, and tell her how special she is to you.
Plan a lunch and surprise him with it at work. Just check with a colleague first if the time is convenient.
Send your wife flowers at her work with an accompanying loving note.
Serenade your spouse. Even if you don’t have a great voice, it will warm her heart.
Watch a movie together, but choose something that your husband will enjoy, even if it’s not your taste.
Take one or two classes together. It could be a dance class or art class, cooking class or welding class. Choose something both of you will enjoy.
Wash his car.
Spoil him with coffee and breakfast in bed.
Allow her to sleep late while you keep the children busy.
On a cold winter’s day, quickly throw her towel or gown in the tumble-drier while she is having a bath or taking a shower. It will be lovely and warm when she wants to use it.
Compliment one another frequently, but make sure it is genuine.
Stop yourself when you want to be critical, and fill one another’s lives with acceptance.
